A colleague of mine just sent me this link to freenigma:
freenigma uses one of the most famous and most widely used cryptographic software packages in the world: the GNU Privacy Guard (GnuPG)
It runs as a Firefox extension with an IE version in the pipeline. It’s still early days yet - there’s no encryption of attachments and digital signatures are disabled at present - but this looks promising.
If you’re interested, I’d recommend reading their FAQ. They’ve thought things out pretty well and are probably onto a winner here.
I’ve not been able to work out what type of licence the product is being released under. They’re planning to offer this for free for individual use, which suggests a closed source ![]()
Amazing Stop Motion Video Creation - brilliant and funny!
I received an email this morning to the abuse@ address of two of my domains. It quotes Dave Hayes’s article Becoming what you oppose which describes how two blacklists are conducting debateably illegal acts (he names extorsion, terrorism, false advertising, and uncompetitive behaviour).
The email emphasises that it was not sent by Dave Hayes, but rather by “concerned net citizens in response to the growing abuse and corruption [of the blacklist organisations]“.
I see two possible explanations here:
- The blacklists mentioned really are trying to play power games
- The spammers are scared because these lists are so good that their spam isn’t getting through and they’re spreading FUD in order to presure people to stop using them.
If I have time, I’ll look into this further. If anyone out there knows anything, I’d love to hear about it.
Snakes on a Plane. It’s a phenomenon! Snakes on a Train was released before the avionic version. One of the lines in the movie was taken from Snakes on a Blog. Pranksters released live rattle snakes in a movie theatre screening the movie.
And now this [youtube].
